Hugh Walker Photography is thrilled to announce its recent participation in “The Shape of Things,” an International Juried Photography Exhibition held at the esteemed Praxis Gallery in Minnesota!
The exhibition, juried by the accomplished Alan Shefland, ran from May 17th to June 14th, 2025, with a wonderful opening reception on Saturday, May 17th, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

“The Shape of Things” explored the profound impact of composition in photography, echoing the words of Henri Cartier-Bresson: “The rhythm of surfaces, lines, and values is for me the essence of photography; composition should be a constant of preoccupation… an organic coordination of visual elements.”
This exhibition was a captivating exploration of how photographers “put together” elements to form compelling wholes. It delved into principles like rhythm, movement, contrast, balance, unity, proximity, and continuity – all crucial in creating expressive and intriguing visual narratives.
Hugh Walker Photography was honored to have work selected for this prestigious exhibition, showcasing our dedication to the art of composition and the thoughtful arrangement of visual elements. It was an inspiring experience to be part of a show that highlighted such a fundamental aspect of photographic art alongside talented artists from around the world.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Praxis Gallery and juror Alan Shefland for this incredible opportunity to share our work and contribute to such a meaningful dialogue on photographic composition.
Stay tuned for more updates on Hugh Walker Photography’s upcoming exhibitions and new projects!
